A New Watt and Watt-hour Meter Calibrator Measures Power Accuracy to .005% and Energy Accuracy to .015%

Rotek Instrument Corp. announces the release of the Rotek Model MSB100, a new calibrator for watt and watt-hour meters, available in January 1999. The Rotek Model MSB100 provides reliable, accurate traceability to N.I.S.T. and other national standards worldwide.
Ideally suited for use as a primary watt/watt-hour reference meter, the Model MSB100 has four voltage input ranges, from 120 to 640VAC, and five current input ranges, from 50mA to 5A, with optional current ranges of 10, 50, and 200A. Its accuracy of .005% for power and .015% for energy is maintained regardless of phase angle, greatly simplifying power measurements at near-zero power factor.
The Model MSB100's digital I/O connector allows direct connection to watt-hour meters equipped with a pulse output. Meter outputs can be compared using the Model MSB100's built-in comparator. No additional test equipment, computers, or complicated test setups are required to calibrate the meters.
Several features of the Model MSB100's front panel increase its ease of use and functionality. Included features are: a large, easy-to-read LCD graphic interface, which displays power and energy measurements; a digital I/O connector as a 5V digital output or as a pulse input; range selection for voltage and current input; and internal precision DC voltage references.
The Model MSB100 is equipped with IEEE-488 and RS-232 remote interfaces, with an optional 10BASE-T Ethernet interface, making the Model MSB100 ideal for systems use and other automated testing applications.
